Hi Forum

I have created a .bash_profile in oracle user whose default shell is bash.
When the user oracle log in, it doesnt source the environment variable in .bash_profile.

But if I put the same variable in .profile, it export them and source them.

Can anyonne please explain why its behaving like that & any steps to make my .bash_profile work instead of .profile.

Is there something that linux check for .profile of a user first when it log in & if there is no .profile then it goes for .bash_profile.

Thanks a lot in advance....

Why do you expect us to debug your code when you refused to post it?

Do the desired variables get establish after manually sourcing in the .bash_profile file?

Do NOT tell us what you think happens.
Use CUT & PASTE so we can see for ourselves exactly & as completely as you see event!
