I double checked and the above parameters are correct. I am using a DS20 Alpha cluster with an external RAID where I keep the datafiles. It seems that the UNIX operating system is able to reach the external disks while Oracle processes cannot.

Is there a way to double check whether Oracle can see these disks or not?
