i beleive it is becuase of PMON process termination.
look into the logs and post more info, like
oraclversion (7.X ??), OS, exact sequence of errors etc.

DBW0: terminating instance due to error 472.
Instance terminated by DBW0, pid=307

Following changes have done in init.ora

event = '10073 trace name contect level 1'
db_writer_process = 1
dbwr_io_slaves = 0
log_buffer = 4MB

we were having oracle version 8.1.0 in Win NT.
We have created database using customized option.

I need the following information.

creation of database using customized options and essential parameters required with values.

Termination of Instance by following Backgound
Processes (CKPT,DBW0,LOGR) With Error No: 472.

This is due to Process Monitor Termination From SGA.

Our Oracle Version is 8.1.0
The Database is in Win NT
The Database is created Using Customized Option

Okie.
the situtation is because, one of the background process terminiates
suddenly and causing the others to do fail.
eventaully PMON is also failing.
based on your posting, i believe, your logfiles are
too small.(when logfiles are small, contention over CKPT and DBW may arise).
so, try to increase the logfile size..
and look specifically for the pmon trace files, lgwr trace files.
pls let me know the result~
