Installing Oracle and OpenWorks on a Pentium 4

You may have heard about Oracle8i or tried installing on a Pentium 4 machine, only to find that you cannot start the installation. This is not to say that it can’t be done; you just need to make some minor modifications in order to install.

For Oracle8i: You must first copy the entire contents of the Oracle8i cd onto a temporary folder on your hard drive. Then, rename all existing copies of the file symcjit.dll to symcjit.old. You can then run the Oracle setup.exe from the new directory.
