Are there any gotcha's for running 7.3.3.6.3 on OS/390 2.8? Are there any ORACLE patches that need to be installed? Are there any OS/390 patches that need to applied?

We have several instances running 7.3.3.6.3 on OS/390 2.9 with the latest patchsets applied from Oracle. We are gradually upgrading to 8.1.7 (MPM). It's a good idea to review through MetaLink Note 67426.1 SQL*NET TCP/IP and HPNS Configuration Issues on OS/390. This should give you the recommended IBM OS and TCP/IP maintenance.

We are at Oracle 7.3.3.6.3 and did some upgrades from OS/390 1.2 to 2.8 and encountered no problems/changes to Oracle.

: The OS/390 patches need to be applied. The Metalink docid 67426.1 is all you need to identify the patches. In my case, Oracle 7.3.3 runs good on OS/390 2.8. What
: happened that we found later is that the init.ora parm especially DB_BLOCK_BUFFER needs to be tuned during EOM/EOY processing. We've 3 Oracle instances (2 big oracle
: databases) and 3 other vendor databases running on the same machine.
