I have a Linux Redhat machine running Oracle 8i and want to move it to a Windows 2000 server. Are there any suggestions? Should I be able to export and import the DB without any problems?

Yea, i think export/import is the way to do that.

Its one of the functionality of export/import i.e. cross-platform data movement.

You can read this link on the forum,

Hi,

Can you please help me out. Iam not very clued up with Oracle.

I am trying to do exactly that, but the import in Windows fails because it is looking for a path /usr/... to place the datafiles and obviously it does not exist.

What is the correct of doing this please.

Thank you for your help.

Boris.
