Dear All.

Can anyone provide me step by step procedure to install

Oracle10g on

Linux version 2.6.9-22.EL (bhcompile@porky.build.redhat.com) (gcc version 3.4.4 20050721 (Red Hat 3.4.4-2)) #1 Mon Sep 19 18:20:28 EDT 2005

You have to go by the Operating Sytem (32/64 bit).
Nothing specific for your hardware model

Yes. As root,
create the groups.
crate the oracle user
create the montpoints
assing privs on mountpoints to oracle.
do the semaphore settings , limits on oracle.

Login as oracle and
set your ORACLE_SID,ORACLE_HOME,ORACLE_BASE.
start installation.

error in invoking ntcontab.o unable to make file

during Installation In the phase of Linking.
due to which the installations is not getting complete,when i clicked on retry nothing is happening.

Did you install the proper version of GCC and other linux packages?
Please go through this

Pick your Linux version.
Just make sure you are installing the required base packages.

I never had problems with 10g installations. Infact, 10g is version that always worked for me.
You must missing some basic packages
I would also cross check Werners notes. He is an absolute authority on RHL

Hi all,

im facing the same error, currently im investigating the reason for it, actually im suspecting that a package is missing.

i have installed oracle 10g many times, but this is the first time i faced this error.

please in case any one figures out a solution, dont hesitate to post a reply!
