Hi,

I have redo log groups 1,2,3,4,5. I have added these groups in the same sequence while creating.

Whenever I say "ALTER SYSTEM SWITHC LOGFILE", it switches in the sequence 1,3,4,5,2,1,3......like.

Can anybody tell me what could be the reason!!!

Brayan.

I think it just switches them according to the order they were created. Don't let the logfile number bother you.

Pay attention to the size and getting them to switch about every hour when they are full. Check MTTR (MeanTimeToRecover) numbers.

What version are you?
Neil.

Hi Neil,

My oracle version is

Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.7.0 - 64bit Production and its Datawarehouse DB.

I've created in the same order 1,2,3,4,5. Actually I was bit curious what could be the reason it switches in different order.

Thank you,
Brayan.
