Dear all

We are having two Oracle 10g Databases running on two physically seperate Linux based Servers.
One is Primary database for Online transactions and other is for data replication/backup.
We are replicating data on replication server every evening. Right now our Primary database is in Archivelog mode and Replicate in Non Archivelog Mode.
My question is , If I make Replicate server too in Archive log enabled and copy the Archive log of Primary server to replicate on hourly basis then can it be posible to recover one hour old data on replicate server in case of primary server hardware failure and use it as primary server.

Thanks

Sarfraz

You need to read up about DataGuard, and, in particular Physical Standby Databases
These are identical copies of your main database that are in a state of permenant recovery, so you can apply the archive logs from your main db to it.
