Hi all
I have created a new database and when i try to give the following command....
alter system set open_cursors=400 scope=spfile;
i am getting the below error message..
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-32001: write to SPFILE requested but no SPFILE specified at startup
can some one tell me why i am getting the above error..

But how to know which file is being used by the oracle isntance..
The DBS folder contain the following files..
SPFILEORCL.ora ( Is this not an SPFILE..?)
initdw.ora
Please bare me if they are fundamental questions since i am still learning administration
