10g DB creation [message #207620]

Hello ,
i want to create a 10g database same like an 8i database i have in another server.can someone please tell me things to be taken care.
note:its a fresh database,without any user objects or schemas

If it's a fresh database without any user objects or schemas then why don't you just use DBCA to create the 10g database?

i never used DBCA before.i was planing to create from command line using create database command.what would you suggest?DBCA a better option ?if so i hav to get some documents .

If you've never done it before, by all means you'll want to use DBCA. You can have DBCA create the scripts for you so that you can look at the scripts to see what steps the DBCA is actually doing to create the database. But to be on the safe side, I would recommend using DBCA.

Do you have any documents on DBCA for 10g .mine is unix AIX .

For some reason,DBCA is not working in my machine.you can find my other post here.
now i have to try manual db creation .

hi,

through DBCA you can create script or run and create ur database.
but if you have problem with DBCA then.
you have to create everything manullay.

1. set oracle sid.
2. create password file
3. create oracle services.
4. create pfile and startup ur database ( idle instance)
5. create database statement .
all structure of ur database
control files, datafiles, redo log files, character set,
