Dear All,
We have a database running under solaris.What is the best way to change the instance_name and confirm it. My plan is to change the instance_name parameter in the init.ora file and restart the database. Is there any problem with it. However I like to know if any one has temporarily changed the instance_name.
I believe if everything goes well then ps -ef|grep -i smon would show me the new instance_name. You may ask, why not I go ahead and give a shot. Because my dear, it is prod database and I cant play with it as I wish.
