In order to find out whether an Oracle product is certified with a certain operating system, check the Oracle's certification matrices.

As of today, only 10gR2 is certified with MS Windows Vista.

It looks to me like 11g is certified for Windows Vista:

http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html

and I have been using 11g Enterprise Edition on Windows Vista without any problems:

Thank you, Barbara.

I was too lazy to check all database versions and checked only the Standard one which is not certified yet:

If you are on Vista and have a 10.2.0.1 database then you have download the wrong binaries.
The correct one only exists in 10.2.0.3.

Precise the steps you did to get this case.

Michel

Patches are only available through Metalink to Oracle customers who have purchased licensed copies and support. If I were you, I would uninstall 10g and download 11g instead. I downloaded 11g and have been running it on Windows Vista without encountering any problems.
